David Szigeti was born and raised in Hungary, Budapest. His interest in music was present from his early childhood as both of his parents were musically educated and placed him in a Music Faculty Elementary School. He began studying cello at the age 7 in a music school then continued his studies in a Secondary School of Music where he also studied Choral Directing and Music Theory.
David holds a Masters of Music in Education, Cello, Choral Directing Diploma from the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy. He has over ten years of music teaching experience, including group theory and private cello lessons, as well as having served as a Choir Director in churches both in Budapest and Greater Vancouver. He has orchestral experience as soloist and section leader, and has played as part of group for recording purpose.
He has worked together with Wendy Bross Stuart previously at TUTS in the summer of 2017 and 2016 and performed the musicals of Beauty and the Beast and Mary Poppins. As a composer he currently works with local groups to perform his work. As an amateur actor, he has performed in plays with Vancouver Hungarian Theatre.
Besides his current musical performances, David also works as a group cello teacher at Vancouver Waldorf School.
